Abstract
The influence produced by the multipath propagation of radio microwaves over the sea on accuracy of determination of the elevation angle of a radiation source using the spectral estimation root-MUSIC algorithm has been determined. A received signal was modeled using a recently developed method for the calculation of field over the rough surface at strong shading; this method can be applied even for zero sliding angles. Measurement errors of the elevation angle obtained using the root-MUSIC method, were compared with those obtained using the monopulse and off-axis methods for the angle measurement. The advantages of the root-MUSIC method used for the measurement of elevation angles equal to tenth fractions of the beam width of a direction-finding antenna have been described.
