Eigen Modes of “Dielectric Layer - Ribbon Diffraction Grating” Electrodynamic System

The problem of eigen electromagnetic waves propagation along the planar dielectric waveguide (PDW), which is electrodynamically connected with ribbon diffraction grating (RDG) is investigated. The calculation dependences of propagation constants for lower modes upon the parameters of the system are provided. Amplitude distributions of field components in transverse cross-section are calculated and built. It is demonstrated that there exist eigen modes of surface wave propagation localized in the plane of diffraction grating within the PDW – RDG electrodynamic system. The existence of hybrid modes in this system is proved. It is revealed the domain of the frequency parameter, within which the strong electrodynamic connection of the system with the free space is originated.

Statistical Approach to Filtration and the Image Informativity

The Bayes statistical approach to filtering of signals developed dating back the time of Laplace and Gauss and evolved during the following centuries and its application to filtering of images is formulated. The informativity of the experiment resulting in obtaining of images is considered. The Fisher informational operator is used as the natural additive quantitative measure of informativity. The examples of specific results of application of this approach to solving of practical problems are provided – the developed at IRE NAS of Ukraine photoclynometric method of determining the surface geometry and the interferometric method of forming the object image at its observation through the turbulent atmosphere are presented. Brief overview of other results in the sphere of image processing attained by IRE NAS of Ukraine since 1970 is given.

Sampling with Jitter Characterized by Discrete-Time Markov Chain

The interest of this work is to describe the Sampling-Reconstruction Procedure (SRP) of Gaussian processes with jitter. In this paper the jitter is considered as a non-stationary process described by the Markov chain. The method of the investigation is based on the conditional mean rule. The optimal error reconstruction functions are calculated for some nontrivial examples.
