Electromagnetic Wave Diffraction by a
Grating of Gyrotropic Circular Cylinders
A rigorously formulated problem is analyzed of an E(H)-polarized
wave obliquely incident on a planar grating of ferrite cylinders of circular
cross-section, magnetized to saturation by an external homogeneous field
oriented along the cylinders. Analytical expressions are derived for the
reflection and transmission coefficients within the long-wave approximation.
Numerical results are given, concerning the coefficient dependences upon
the magnetizing field strength.

Irregular Scattering of Electromagnetic
Signals in a Regular Time-Varying Medium
Discussed in the paper is the transformation of electromagnetic signals
in a medium with time-variation of the dielectric constant and conductivity
that can be modeled by a finite sequence of periodic rectangular pulses.
As is shown, with certain relations between the medium parameters and characteristics
of the signal the behavior of secondary waves may become irregular. The
irregularity parameter is analyzed numerically.

Wave Packet Scattering by an Anisotropic
Gyromagnetic Layer
The problem of wave beam scattering by an anisotropic ferrite layer is solved
employing the spectral method. The object is a 2D beam obeying the Gaussian
distribution in the cross section plane and having no variations in the
direction perpendicular to the plane of incidence. Expressions for the reflection
coefficient of the plane wave from the layer with a tensorial magnetic permeability
have been obtained. Properties of the spatial distribution of the reflected
field are analyzed for various angles of beam incidence.

Mutual Wave Conversion under Resonant
Scattering by Two and More Diaphragms in a Rectangular Waveguide
Resonant mutual wave conversion on multistrip diaphragm cascades have been
analyzed. Nontrivial situations of the optimum wave interaction and suppression
of undesirable mode coupling have been found. In working multiparametric
optimization problems, the algorithms used are supplemented with the regularization
procedures.

Field Interaction with Inhomogeneous
Non-Stationary Planer Structures of Finite Size: Solution of Inverse Problems
The interaction of electromagnetic fields with a non-stationary, uniaxially-inhomogeneous
conducting medium is analyzed. A new technique is suggested for treating
one-dimensional inverse problems for media of this kind. An algorithm has
been developed for solving the non-stationary inverse problems to recovery
space-and-time dependences of conductivity of the 1D media from known reflected
and incident fields. The algorithm's potential, as applied to diagnostics
and synthesis of planar non-stationary structures is illustrated by numerical
examples.

An algorithm of derivation of numerical-symbolic expressions for computing
the Green's functions of multilayered dielectric structures in the boundary-value

and Its Rate of Change
Algorithms, an estimation accuracy, and a measure of resolution both of
a carrier frequency and of its rate of change are obtained in an explicit
form with the use of a coherent pulse packet. The algorithms developed allow
certain of their fundamental properties to be revealed. The formulas for
a potential measurement accuracy and measures of resolution are derived.

On Transition Radiation of Surface
Polaritons by a Modulated Flow of Charged Particles
A mechanism of the interaction of a modulated flow of the charged particles
with the surface waves in plasmalike media, superconductors and ideally
conducting conductors with a periodically rough boundary have been investigated.
Modulation frequency is designated by the surface wave frequency. It is
found that the density of the energy flow of the surface wave undergoes
oscillations depending on the relation between the period of Langmuir oscillations
of the electron beam and the transit time of the particle from the modulation
plane to the media interface. It is shown that the flow amount can considerably
exceed that one for the surface waves excited by a charged strip.

Determining the Antiferomagnetic
Resonance Frequency in Semimagnetic Semiconductors by Means of Surface Polaritons
In the articles surface polaritons are investigated in semimagnetic semiconductors
which are in a phase of antiferromagnetic ordering. The influence of the
external static magnetic field and the electron concentration on the dispersion
properties of the surface polaritons is determined. It is shown that the
surface polaritons can have the dispersion independent of the direction
of their propagation in the Voigt geometry. A new method based on excitation
of the surface polaritons in the semimagnetic semiconductors is proposed
for determination of the antiferromagnetic resonance frequency.

Solitary Resonance in the Diffraction
on Impedance Gratings
A detailed analytical treatment and numerical analysis of the resonance
diffraction of a plane monochromatic wave on gratings formed by modulation
of optical constants on the boundary of a highly reflecting medium are performed
at an impedance approximation. Both Wood and Rayleigh-type anomalies in
the intensities and phases of diffracted waves under the conditions of a
solitary resonance are investigated. Specifically, the conditions under
which the incident wave is transformed into the surface electromagnetic
(EM) wave (EMW) and the specular reflection is totally suppressed. The relations
of width, location and other parameters of resonance transformation to the
optic constants of a medium and the grating parameters are derived. The
obtained results suggest that using the Wood and Rayleigh anomalies hold
a great deal of promise in terms of serving metrological purposes, thereby
permitting the radiation and gratings' parameters as well as optical characteristics
of a medium to be determined to a high degree of accuracy.
