The department was established in 1986 for the investigation of electromagnetic imaging, (radio-wave imaging) within opaque media, and for the development of short distance radar. Two main areas of research were selected: Traditional for the Institute – Microwave Radiolocation and “State of the Art”– Ultra Wide Band / Short Pulse (UWB/SP) Radiolocation.
